Nintendo Might Be Launching Its Switch 2 On The Perfect Date … Here’s The Scoop

It's been seven years since the first version hit the shelves. Nintendo Might Be Launching Its Switch 2 On The Perfect Date … Here’s The Scoop Giphy

The top dog of handheld gaming devices has been the Nintendo Switch for seven years, but the original versions are growing a bit long in the tooth. That’s why the iconic video game company is planning to launch a long-awaited update.

But rumors that the device would be dropping sometime this month appear to be unfounded. So when will it be available?

Well, Nintendo hasn’t been forthcoming with any specifics, but the latest scuttlebutt is focused on one date in particular.

Less than a year away

There’s a lot of pressure on the company to release the next generation of the Switch. But without any concrete information about possible games or other key details, it’s pretty obvious that we’re not going to be able to run out and buy one any time in the immediate future.

Most insiders seem to be indicating that Nintendo is looking to introduce its next big product in the first quarter of 2025. And that time frame would leave open a particularly appropriate launch date.

The first version dropped on March 3, so that date next year would be eight years since its release. But most of these releases occur on a Friday, meaning March 7 might be a more likely option.

An ideal opportunity

Of course, Nintendo is planning to release a couple of new games on Thursdays later this year — and if the day of the week is open for debate, could that mean the possibility of a date that not-so-subtly honors the company’s biggest star?

Just a few days later is March 10 (known as Mar10 Day for its resemblance to the name of the Italian plumber) … and even if that’s not the official launch date, it would be a pretty cool tie-in with the promotion.
