Week 1 of the College Football season has come and gone, with the East Carolina Pirates suffering a painful one-point defeat (sucks for this alumni), but it is what it is.

However, that was a heavy theme for the week as 20% of the 81 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) games were decided by 8 points or less. The tight game of most national interest saw Florida State beat Louisiana State University 24-23.

Let's take a quick look at the top 25 in the power rankings (clears throat):

  1. Alabama (1-0)
  2. Georgia (1-0)
  3. Ohio State (1-0)
  4. Texas A&M (1-0)
  5. Michigan (1-0)
  6. Baylor (1-0)
  7. Utah (0-1)
  8. Miami [FL] (1-0)
  9. Oklahoma State (1-0)
  10. Oklahoma (1-0)
  11. USC [CA] (1-0)
  12. Clemson (1-0)
  13. Pittsburgh (1-0)
  14. Florida (1-0)
  15. Notre Dame (1-0)
  16. NC State, Boo [They beat East Carolina] (1-0)
  17. Arkansas (1-0)
  18. Ole Miss (1-0)
  19. Michigan State (1-0)
  20. BYU (1-0)
  21. Houston (1-0)
  22. Kentucky (1-0)
  23. Wisconsin (1-0)
  24. Texas (1-0)
  25. Tennessee (1-0)

(Takes a deep breath) Well...that was a lot. The power rankings will change significantly over the upcoming weeks as the Power 5 teams will eventually stop playing soft out of conference schedules and play one another (looking at you, SEC).

Who's your favorite team? Did your alumni win on the gridiron during Week 1?
