Wednesday is for the dreamers who look into the stars, chirpers. We've reached the halfway point of the week, and in today's feature story, we're focusing on what the moon can tell us about the history of Earth.

We're also going to take a look at a little college football power rankings. So, if you're not ready, you have a few seconds to prepare.

Alright, let's get on with the news.

💨 Juul agrees to pay a $438.5 million settlement over marketing toward teens. Juul agreed to pay $438.5 million due to marketing to underage users with launch parties, advertisements, using trendy-looking models (don't most products?), and using multiple flavors (what product only has a plain flavor?). However, Juul manipulated the chemical composition of its product to make vapor less harsh on the throats of inexperienced users. Evidently, the company also used an age-verification technique it knew wasn't effective (ouch).

⚕️ CVS Health making a key acquisition. CVS Health is acquiring Signify Health for approximately $8 billion. The deal should open doors for the pharmacy chain by allowing it to reach customers at home. While it may not lower costs, that's at least one benefit.

🍟 California makes landmark fast food legislation into law. California Governor Gavin Newson signed a landmark measure giving more than a half-million fast food workers more power and protections. The law will give fast food workers minimum wage increases, with the cost of living increases added on top.

🏛 27 antiquities were seized from the met, looting cited as the reason. Investigators in New York City seized 27 artifacts valued at more than $13 million from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Met), stating the objects from ancient Rome and Egypt were looted. The items are set to be returned to their countries of origin - 21 to Italy and 6 to Egypt.

What stories does the Moon have about Earth?

The Relationship Between Earth And Moon

"When you look at the Moon, you're looking at not just a neighbor in space, but kind of an extension of the Earth," National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Moon scientists Noah Petro told Axios regarding the relationship between Earth and its only moon.

NASA plans to use the Artemis program to establish a presence on different parts of the moon, potentially allowing missions to new areas of the lunar surface. Unfortunately, the Artemis missions have seen several setbacks due to fuel leaks in recent days.

"Part of the area where the Artemis missions will be exploring is on the rim of this enormous basin," Petro added in his conversation with Axios. "We don't know how old it is. So for me, understanding the age of that crater becomes a very important point in the history of the Earth and the Moon's history in its formation," he continued.

The Moon is believed to have formed after a collision between Earth and a rocky body called Theia, making the Moon an ancient history book that could unearth (no pun intended) many new details about the Earth's ancient history.

Brothers reunited after 77 years apart

Long-lost brothers are no longer long-lost. A story 77 years in the making.

How did they become separated?

Ted Nobbs (83) and his brother Geoff (79) have spent 77 years and over 10,000 miles apart after their family was divided at the end of the Second World War.

Crazy, right?

Ted lived with siblings Barry and John after their mother died of cancer at the age of 30 in 1945. Their father, who didn't feel he could care for baby Geoff, gave him up for adoption, hoping he would have a better life than what he could provide.

Geoff moved to Australia in 1951 at the age of 7 with his adoptive family and has lived there ever since. Geoff went on to have eight kids and grandchildren of his own.

Ted, Barry, and John attempted to find Geoff several times over the years but didn't have any success until 2014 when Geoff tracked down Barry and sent him a letter (John had passed away at this point).

They began speaking over Skype and the phone, getting to know each other after so many decades apart. The family reunited on September 4th when Ted traveled to Australia.

College Football power rankings are here

The College Football power rankings say, "Roll Tide."

Giphy

Week 1 of the College Football season has come and gone, with the East Carolina Pirates suffering a painful one-point defeat (sucks for this alumni), but it is what it is.

However, that was a heavy theme for the week as 20% of the 81 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) games were decided by 8 points or less. The tight game of most national interest saw Florida State beat Louisiana State University 24-23.

Let's take a quick look at the top 25 in the power rankings (clears throat):

  1. Alabama (1-0)
  2. Georgia (1-0)
  3. Ohio State (1-0)
  4. Texas A&M (1-0)
  5. Michigan (1-0)
  6. Baylor (1-0)
  7. Utah (0-1)
  8. Miami [FL] (1-0)
  9. Oklahoma State (1-0)
  10. Oklahoma (1-0)
  11. USC [CA] (1-0)
  12. Clemson (1-0)
  13. Pittsburgh (1-0)
  14. Florida (1-0)
  15. Notre Dame (1-0)
  16. NC State, Boo [They beat East Carolina] (1-0)
  17. Arkansas (1-0)
  18. Ole Miss (1-0)
  19. Michigan State (1-0)
  20. BYU (1-0)
  21. Houston (1-0)
  22. Kentucky (1-0)
  23. Wisconsin (1-0)
  24. Texas (1-0)
  25. Tennessee (1-0)

(Takes a deep breath) Well...that was a lot. The power rankings will change significantly over the upcoming weeks as the Power 5 teams will eventually stop playing soft out of conference schedules and play one another (looking at you, SEC).

Who's your favorite team? Did your alumni win on the gridiron during Week 1?
