End Of An Era: Disney's Splash Mountain Closes Today After 30 Years And Fans Are Waiting In Line For More Than Three Hours For One Final Ride

It's total chaos at Magic Kingdom today. Since 1992, Splash Mountain has been one of the staples at Walt Disney World in Orlando. But once the park closes today, that will no longer be the case. After 30 years, one of the most popular theme park rides to ever exist is shutting down. And as you can see above, fans are still willing to wait more than THREE HOURS to hop on the log flume for one last ride.

Let's be clear: the ride may be closing tonight, but the format of the ride isn't going anywhere. It is shutting down and getting rebranded to "Tiana's Bayou Adventure," based on the 2009 film, "The Princess and the Frog." For the last three decades, Splash Mountain included characters from the 1946 Disney film, "Song of the South," which critics claim portrays racial stereotypes.

The new version of the ride is expected to open in 2024, and fans of the ride are willing to do whatever it takes to get one last memory on Splash Mountain.

Assuming you are not in the Orlando area today, here is the POV on Splash Mountain… A true end of an era.
